As faithful members of the LDS church we live our religion through Sunday meetings, worship in beautiful temples, and Monday night games and study with our families. In addition to these cornerstones, many members of our devout Christian religion also outwardly express their faith through rings, neckties, and scripture cases. Many Latter-day Saints use these items as a self-reminder of the promises and covenants we have made with our Heavenly Father. These products can be purchased for personal use, but are more often given as LDS gifts.

One of the initial steps in learning about the church’s teachings is attending Primary. Primary teaches our young children good behavior, an opportunity to socialize with others, and more importantly about the teachings of Jesus. Every year in Primary, a new principle is taught, and along with those new princples come quotes, sayings, songs and other memory-jogging clichés that help our little ones remember these principles. LDS Primary gifts are often given to help a child remember the principle that is being taught during that year, or what was taught the previous year.

One of the biggest stepping stones for the children in our Church is to be baptized by imersion for the remission of sins, just as Jesus did. This monumental decision can be a time of excitement for the child, family, and friends. This is also an ideal time to give a baptism gift. Gifts such as a tie, a CTR ring, or a bracelet can be given to help the child remember their special day and realize the significance of the event.

Children of the church graduate from Primary and enter the Young Men or Young Women’s program once they reach 12 years of age. As we know, each program consists of three levels of progression based on age: Deacon, Teacher, and Priest for the men, and Beehive, Mia Maid and Laurel for women. Each level of progression is presents a great opportunity to give a necklace or some earrings, or a necktie or tie clip as a congratulatory gift.

In grades 9-12, our young adults also attend scripture study classes during a release time from school, or early in the morning before school begins. These classes help our children learn to love the gospel as well as discipline, study habits, as well as gain a strong testimony. After attending four years of seminary instruction (and a lot of early mornings) a graduation ceremony is held and certificates are often given to the students who passed their classes. At this time, gifts such as a nicer CTR ring or scripture case with new scriptures may be given. Seminary graduation brings feelings of great accomplishment for the young man or woman receiving the honor, as well as their families.

In addition to significant advancements in the church, LDS gifts may be given at mission farewells or homecomings, birthdays, sealings, baby blessings, or Personal Progress awards. No matter the age or stage of their life, LDS gifts make for great reminders of the importance of the event and the standards members of LDS church hold.
